High gas prices at Barrie stations are unfair and it's time to lobby!Stepping up to the plate to do battle against high gasoline pricing in Barrie is resident Bob Taylor's mission. "Why can you buy gas in Markham at 72 cents a litre, when you can buy it in Barrie the same time of day at 89 cents a litre, says Taylor as he plans to lobby and picket some stations?" Gas station employees say that it costs more to transport the fuel to Barrie, yet in whatever direction one leaves the city, the prices go down. "we should at least get a fair deal and be priced the same as Toronto," say Taylor. This site is dedicated to fighting high gas prices and petitioning those in power to make sure that everyone across Ontario gets a fair shake. |

By Raymond Bowe Everyone fumes about gasline prices, but Bob Taylor plans to do something about it.That means lobbying government and picketing at stations with habitually high prices, he said. The city resident is "appalled" that Barrie gas prices seem to be "obscenely" higher compared to other smaller towns in the area. "They see Barrie as rich pickings. It's pure greed," Taylor said, adding part of the problem is complacency among customers. "We're like lost sheep. They need someone to do something." Taylor's beef isn't with one particular company, but one of the country's largest, Petro-Canada, said it doesn't have a policy to handle such demonstrations. |
